Q: How do I integrate my Outlook or Lotus Domino account with my BlackBerry Internet Service account? Show Answer

Note: Integration of corporate Outlook / Lotus Domino accounts is dependent on your company’s Corporate IT policy. Administrator access or similar may be required. Optus is not responsible and accepts no liability for such policies.

Q: How do I forward my Outlook emails to my BlackBerry device? Show Answer
A: You need to set up auto-forward rules within Outlook. Please refer to the 'Forwarding Outlook Emails Guide' for step-by-step instructions.
Q: What type of email accounts does the BlackBerry Internet Service integrate with? Show Answer
A:

Email accounts include:

  • ISP/ POP3
  • IMAP
  • AOL Mail
  • MSN
  • Microsoft Exchange (Using Outlook Web Access, BlackBerry Mail Connector or auto-forward rules).
  • IBM Lotus Domino (Using iNotes or the BlackBerry Mail Connector).

Note: Email account integration is subject to service provider availability and compliance with Corporate IT policies.

Q: Will BlackBerry Internet Service work with my ISP? Show Answer
A:

The BlackBerry Internet Service is not suitable for some email accounts. Please ensure you check with your Internet Service Provider to see whether the BlackBerry Internet Service may be used with that ISP’s service and whether any limitations or restrictions apply.

Please note that some ISPs may charge additional fees for the use of the BlackBerry Internet Service with some email accounts. All such fees shall be the Customer’s responsibility and Optus accepts no liability for such fees.

Q: What are the benefits of the new, improved BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0? Show Answer
A:

The new BlackBerry Internet Service:

  • is easier to set up and manage
  • offers a simplified mailbox and quota management.  The name@optus.ap.blackberry.net email account is no longer mandatory and may be eliminated entirely.
  • depending on your ISP or web mail provider, offers one way synchronization of read, delete and sent mail items that are initiated from the BlackBerry device* (*See table below for capabilities.)

All features are mail provider implementation-dependent and are subject to change.

Q: How do I know if I am already a BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 customer? Show Answer
A: If you login to your BlackBerry Internet Service account and can see an email in-box, you have not yet upgraded to the improved BlackBerry Internet Service. Otherwise you can check with Optus Customer Care on 1300 133 731.
Q: How do I migrate to BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 if I want to? Show Answer
A: If you wish to migrate to the improved BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0, simply login to your BlackBerry Internet Service account (either via the Internet or using the E-mail Settings icon on the main screen of your BlackBerry device.)  Upon logging in, you will be presented with a prompt to initiate automatic migration.  Read the detailed information on the prompt to ensure you understand what will be migrated and select Yes, to upgrade your service. 
Q: What are the system requirements for BlackBerry Desktop Software? Show Answer
A:

The following PC specifications are required to install and use the BlackBerry Desktop Software:

  • Internet/ email enabled PC with an Intel486™ processor or higher.
  • Windows 98, ME, 200, XP
  • To use the Intellisync tool of the BlackBerry Desktop Software, you must be running Personal Information Manager (PIM) software such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, or Microsoft Schedule+; ACT!; Lotus Notes or Lotus Organiser; GroupWise; GoldMine; or Netscape.

Important Note: If you use your BlackBerry device with a Macintosh computer you will not be able to synchronise your BlackBerry device with your desktop functions such as calendar, contacts, tasks etc.
